President Duterte’s deafening silence on Dulay Corruption crushed the credibility of his Anti-Corruption mantra.

The President has incessantly kept on reiterating that he intensely hates corruption. That he doesn't tolerate corruption in his administration and that no sacred cows in his government. 

He also keeps on urging the people to report corruption and would incentivize those who will report corrupt practices. 

He promised to immediately act on reports of corruption involving government officials. But sadly, he keeps mum on BIR commissioner Caesar Rivera Dulay corruption issue. His deafening silence on Dulay case crushed the credibility of his anti-corruption mantra.

BIR Dulay corruption, worst in BIR history.

Othello Dalanon was an appointee of President Duterte as Director 1 in the Bureau of Internal Revenue assigned to the Office of the Commissioner where he discovered and exposed the WORST CORRUPTION ever in BIR history involving commissioner Dulay himself - in the extremely anomalous settlement of Cosmos Bottling Corporation's (Cosmos) P3.76 billion deficiency tax liabilities for only P51 million - a ridiculous amount

Court says Cosmos’s P3.76B tax liabilities attained finality; BIR’s settlement for only P51M was invalid and without the approval of the Bureau’s Evaluation Board. (CTA Case No. 9405 dated 25May17)

On 13 February 2018, Dalanon reported this anomaly to the President thru the then SAP, now senator Bong Go. 

On 08 February 2019, Dalanon again submitted a report to the President reiterating the aforementioned anomaly and that of the Del Monte's P8.7B tax liabilities which was also grossly reduced to only P65M. 

Sadly, instead of providing Dalanon with some kind of protection for complying with the President’s stern directive to cleanse the BIR of corruption, he was, on 25 June 2019, dismissed from the service. 

Who else can have the audacity of reporting corruption in government, if it would only mean dismissal from the service as what happened to former BIR Director Othello Dalanon?
